C64 Vault separates emulator software, system firmware, hosted media, local user media, save states, and compatibility evidence. One layer never serves as proof for another.
A hosted item needs an authoritative source, explicit redistribution basis, immutable source revision, license record, byte count, SHA-256 digest, and a dated compatibility result. Missing proof keeps the item out of the public library.
The upstream VICE core’s separately copyrighted Commodore firmware is not admitted. The release substitutes pinned Open ROMs C64 firmware, removes detected embedded drive firmware, disables true-drive emulation, and publishes the sanitization receipt with the release manifest.
Files from your device are never represented as verified, authorized, or authentic. Their hash is shown only as a local identity aid.
Compatibility boundary: a runtime start event proves launch compatibility with the tested browser and sanitized core. It does not prove complete gameplay correctness for every code path.
